At T/J Fabricators, Inc. our 50 years of experience gives us the ingenuity to uncover the most successful methods for fabricating sheet metal assemblies. The complex component highlighted here is used in a consumer banking application. Based on the final part requirements, our designers weighed out all the options and developed a smart fabrication strategy that simplified manufacturing, improved quality, and reduced the overall production costs.
With our comprehensive fabrication and inspection capabilities, we designed and built this workpiece entirely in-house. Constructed from cold rolled steel and galvanized aluminum parts, it consisted of 50 individual components combined into several sub-assemblies that make up the final put-together unit. Our integrated sheet metal production systems allowed us to operate with accuracy and efficiency while maximizing material utilization and minimizing production and assembly steps.
Production involved many of our fabrication capabilities, including laser cutting, bending, and punching. Some of the pieces we connected by spot welding while other parts of the assembly required hardware insertion. All of the spot welds were ground and polished to give a seamless appearance. We also applied various finishes, including zinc plating, anodizing, and painting.
With quality as a primary focus, we laser scanned all of the flat blanks, and all gave all components a first article inspection. A final inspection of the completed assembly confirmed that the product satisfied all of the customer requirements. As a long-term partner, the client was confident in our capabilities, and we received very positive feedback on the quality of our workmanship. We continue to work with them on many other projects.
